久しぶりの更新となりました。
ご報告になってしまいましたが、１月から６月までアメリカにあるイェール大学（ニューヨークの隣にある コネチカット州）というところに客員研究員として滞在しておりました。日本ではそれほど馴染みがないかもしれませんが、めちゃくちゃ有名な大学です。東京 大学と学術協定を結んでいるので、東大からの派遣というかたちで滞在できました（授業料や登録料などの諸経費がかからなかったのは本当に有り難かったで す）。

I stayed at Yale University as visiting scholar. The university is located at Connecticut next to New York. Though someone in Japan does not know the name, it is quite famous in the world. Since there is exchanging program between University of Tokyo and Yale University, I could stay there without any registration fee.

滞 在中は宗教学のデパートメントに所属していました。そこに、ゲアハルト・ベーヴェリング先生という私がイスラーム神秘思想研究をはじめてから影響をうけて きた研究者の一人で、イスラーム神秘思想研究では世界的に高名な先生がいらっしゃいます（日本語だと「泣く子も黙る」というくらいでしょうか）。彼に快く 受け入れていただいたお蔭で、滞在することができました。また私の東京大学東洋文化研究所の受入れ研究者であった鎌田繁先生の推薦状のお陰でもあります。
During staying, I belonged to the Religious Studies Department of Yale. In the department, there is a scholar, Gerhard Bowering, who is one of the most well-known scholar of Islamic mystical thought in the world. I have had influence from his works since I started to study Islamic studies. Thanks to his willing to be my host researcher, I could do my research there. Moreover, my staying owed to Professor Kamada's recommendation letter, my host researcher of the University of Tokyo.
イェー ルのあるニューヘイヴンは寒いぞ～と同じく東大から派遣されているT田さんから言われていたので、出発前にモンベルで一番温かいであろうダウンを買いまし た。この寒さ対策のおかげで（モンベルから何ももらえないですが、宣伝もしておきます。ゴアテックスが不運にも破れてしまいましたが）、何とか冬も乗り切 ることができました。寒い日はマイナス20度近くになったのですが、そのときは息をするだけでも辛かったです。でも室内はかなり温かいので、日本の実家に いたときよりも寒さを感じずに過ごしました。
"New Haven located at Yale is super cold," Ms. T advised me to wear good outer, so that I bought the warmest jacket at Montbell before leaving Japan. Thanks to the jacket, I could survive winter. On the day when it was more than -20 degree centigrade, it was really hard to breathe. However, inside is warm, so I could spend more comfortably than time I stayed in my parents' house in Japan.

学 期中は、ベーヴェリング教授が開講していたイスラーム史の授業と、イブン・アラビーの『叡智の台座』の講読の授業に出席しました。特にアラビア語講読は毎 週英訳を作って臨んだのですが大変でした。というか、自分の英語力がよく分かりました。日本語でも訳すのが難しい文章を訳すのは大変でしたが、ただ追い風 も吹いていました。カイロ・アメリカン大学時代の指導教官が、『叡智の台座』の校訂本を出版し、それを無事に受け取ることができました。購読はその本も参 照しながら（校訂本はシャクルが振られているので、勉強のためにアフィーフィー版を使いました）、行われました。
During the semester, I attended class of Islamic history and graduate seminar for reading Fusus al-hikam (The Bezels of Wisdom) that Professor Bowering teaches. Especially, Arabic seminar was tough in spite that I prepared for the seminar by making Japanese translation. I understand my English level. It is difficult to translate Arabic to English though it is already difficult even in Japanese. However, following wind supporting me was also blowing. My instructor when I studied at the American University in Cairo published the critical edition of Fusus al-hikam, and sent some to students including me. We referred to it too in class (we mainly used in Afifi edition because there is tashkir in the critical edition).

行動的にしっかりと動けたかどうかは分かりませんが、元気に過ごせたのは友人たちのお陰でもあります。また８月末から渡米しますが、それまでが今年度の業績づくりの山場なので頑張ろうと思います。
Though I do not know I did well, great days of staying at Yale owed to my friends. I will be in the States from the end of August, so that will do my best until that time because of publishing academic results this year.
